Ala Moana Elevated Pedestrian Walkway

Work began in May 2022 for the construction of a land bridge from mauka to makai, linking paths on both sides of Ala Moana Boulevard between Ward Avenue and Kamakeʻe Street.  This vital project promises a safer and more scenic route for pedestrians navigating the bustling intersections and heading to Ala Moana Beach Park, seamlessly blending form and function.

The scope of work consists of construction of an elevated pedestrian walkway bridge; construction of retaining walls, drilled shafts, jet grout columns, geosynthetic reinforced soil walls, grading and ground surcharging, sidewalks, ramps, stairs, handrails, concrete curbs and gutters, drainage system, landscaping, irrigation, pathway lighting, video cameras, and street lighting; installation of impact attenuators; pavement markings and signing; installation, maintenance and removal of temporary erosion control measures; and traffic control.
