The Honouliuli Wastewater Treatment Plant serves one of the fastest growing areas of O’ahu but required an expansion in order to meet minimum standards set by the Clean Water Act. Included in the upgrade and expansion of the plant site are six open-air grit pre-aeration tank clarifiers that treat the wastewater, sufficient emergency power to run influent pumps during power outages, designs to prevent overflow of the grit chamber, and reduction of corrosive gases and salt-laden winds on building structures.
The needs of the project require that the new facilities be constructed in a phased timeline while maintaining operation of the existing system.
