Construction Manager

Location: Project sites and office (Oahu and other Hawaiian Islands as assigned)

Key Responsibilities

· Lead and manage assigned projects from preconstruction through closeout.
· Serve as the primary client interface and represent the firm with owners, agencies, designers, and contractors.
· Oversee project schedule development, updates, and recovery efforts; coordinate closely with project controls and scheduling staff.
· Monitor project budget, costs, and forecasts; support cost control and change management processes.
· Administer contracts, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and claims support.
· Direct field staff (Field Engineers, Field Clerks, inspectors) and coordinate their daily activities.
· Ensure quality assurance/quality control processes are implemented and documented.
· Promote and enforce site safety practices in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
· Lead or participate in progress meetings, coordination meetings, and partnering sessions.
· Identify risks early and develop mitigation strategies.
· Support dispute resolution and claims documentation as needed.
· Prepare clear, professional reports and correspondence for clients and internal leadership.
· Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.), Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
· 7+ years of progressive construction experience, with at least 3–5 years in a construction management, owner’s representative, or project management role.
· Demonstrated experience managing projects from start to finish, including schedule, budget, and contract administration.
· Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, contract documents, and project delivery methods (CM, Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, etc.).
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage client relationships professionally.
· Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office; familiarity with scheduling software s highly desirable.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to work on active construction sites.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience on federal, state, municipal, or large commercial/institutional projects.
· Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
· Prior experience with contract change orders, claims, forensic schedule analysis, or dispute resolution support.
· Familiarity with Hawaii construction practices, local agencies, and permitting processes.
· Experience supervising and mentoring field and office staff.

Pay

Starting salary $100K+ (DOE)
